National Coal Mining Museum – Trustees needed

The National Coal Mining Museum for England is seeking to appoint a number of further Trustees to its Board to help guide the strategic and financial development of the Museum. The Museum is entering an exciting time as it looks to meet its potential both now and in the future. The Trustees play a key role in supporting the Museum’s staff and volunteers to ensure the unique visitor experience and nationally important collections  are developed to ‘Keep Coal Mining Alive’ for future generations. With a proven track record, you will be a strategic thinker, able to speak your mind and have the time and skills to commit to this important role. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background in one or more of the following:

  • Health & Safety, ideally relating to mines
  • Experience of developing sustainable funding models to reduce reliance on government funding
  • Knowledge of the local region
  • Income generation

Trustee positions are unremunerated voluntary positions – reasonable travel and subsistence expenses can be reimbursed. Time commitment is approximately 12 – 18 days per year and meeting take place at the Museum in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
