May Day Rally – Chesterfield
Chesterfield May Day 2017
It’s just three weeks to go until Chesterfield May Day 2017, our 40th anniversary People’s Gala & Demonstration which takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st.
Chesterfield May Day has developed into one of the best attended and well supported May Day events in the country. With a large and colourful march through the town led off by the Ireland Colliery Band, with drummers, dancers and a samba band! We’ve got some of the best union movement speakers on the platform, bustling campaign stalls filling New Square and a great selection of some of the best artists around providing live music into the afternoon. This is an event not to be missed. So if you are one of the many tens of thousands who have been before, make sure you return in 2017; and if you’ve never made it before, make sure you come along.
- Campaign Stalls: We still have a few campaign stalls available in New Square. If you or your group would like to book one for the day email tucchesterfield@tesco.net or phone 07870387999.
- Volunteers to help steward the march: We are looking for volunteers to help with stewarding the march on the day. This will be a commitment of about an hour and half in the morning from about 10.30am and involves some very simple and safe tasks that will help make sure the march is successful and enjoyable event for all. If you are interested and would like more info about what this would entail email, tucchesterfield@tesco.net or phone 07870387999.
