International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHoBiT)

DAHoBiT May 17th represents an annual landmark to draw the attention of decision makers, the media, the public, opinion leaders and local authorities to the alarming situation faced by lesbian, gay, bisexuals, transgender and intersex people and all those who do not conform to majority sexual and gender norms. Despite the rainy, cold weather a crowd of people gathered in Sheffield Peace Gardens to hear speakers and ‘Make Some Noise’

IDAHoBiT MESSAGE OF SUPPORT FROM OTJC

The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign sends you all a message of support and solidarity for the IDAHoBiT event in Sheffield on 17 May 2017. Although significant steps have been made towards equality in many parts of the country and the world, prejudice and verbal and physical assaults are still depressingly common. It is thanks to the Labour and Trade Union movement that together we have achieved significant steps forward for LGBT+ equality. It is an honour for us to have worked so closely with Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners and to be involved this week with the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to Mark Ashton – founder member of LGSM and part of the inspiration for the film PRIDE. We stand with you proud and steadfast and in the face of adversity remembering that every battle you win is a victory for us all.
