The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign and Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners send you greetings and solidarity for the IDAHoBiT event in Sheffield on 17 May 2018. The alliances forged between the LGBT+ community and the Trade Unions during the 84/5 Miners’ Strike proved to be an important turning point in the progression of LGBT+ rights in the UK. More recently the support, solidarity and friendship between LGSM and OTJC to get a Public Inquiry into the brutality of policing against Miners at Orgreave during the Strike in 1984 is immeasurable. Although significant steps have been made towards equality in many parts of the country and the world, prejudice and verbal and physical assaults are still depressingly common. The LGBT+ community and Labour and Trade Union movement together have achieved significant steps forward for LGBT+ equality. We stand with you proud and steadfast in the face of adversity remembering that every battle you win is a victory for us all.
