New Durham Miners’ Association pamphlet – Out Now!
This new DMA pamphlet documents the part that tens of thousands of the DMA’s 137,000 members played in the 1914 – 1918 conflict with Germany. In this imperialist war, thousands of these men were killed, horribly maimed, wounded and irreparably damaged in battle against their fellow workers – many of them also miners – in German and Austrian uniforms.
After the conflict ended, the ruling classes in the warring countries reverted to normal, turning these same armies and their guns on the working class.
The DMA’s pamphlet tells the story and highlights what happened to some of those that fought and whose bravery was honoured and those that fought on the home front.
