Labour Election successes – a Victory for progress, compassion, integrity, truth and justice

This General Election has involved remarkable gains for the  Labour Party led by Jeremy Corbyn and shows that there is significant support for a new type of politics in this country based on fairness and social justice. The Labour Party is committed to implementing an independent  public inquiry into the brutal attacks by the police on Miners at the Orgreave Coking plant in June 1984.

The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign (OTJC) will continue its call for the Conservative Government to implement an inquiry and put an end to the injustice experienced by Miners and their communities over the last 33 years.

Kevin Horne, miner arrested at Orgreave said:

“Theresa May fought a dishonourable and deceitful election campaign. Our campaign is very familiar with her style of deception and thankfully her underhanded manner and approach has been exposed and recognised by the electorate”

Secretary of the OTJC Barbara Jackson said:

“This must now mean the end of Amber Rudd as Home Secretary and an opportunity to replace her with someone who will have the decency to acknowledge Amber Rudd’s miscalculation and implement an inquiry that is well overdue”

Meanwhile OTJC will continue to work with the Labour Party who in their courageous campaign stated clearly in their manifesto their intention to hold a public inquiry into policing practices at Orgreave.
