Appeal for participants in short Orgreave film
The Orgreave Truth & Justice Campaign has agreed to circulate information about a BBC production about Orgreave and forward this information below to our supporters to see if any of you would be interested in being involved in it.
Simon Lister is a producer for BBC News and has been asked to make a short film on Orgreave to co-incide with the Government announcement about a Public Inquiry into what happened at Orgreave on 18th June 1984.
Simon Lister works with Allan Little who Simon describes as one of the BBC’s most respected reporters. Allan and Simon are hoping to understand what happened on the day, but also to understand what has happened since. How did what happened at Orgreave affect miners, their families and communities afterwards? What is the legacy of Orgreave? Simon and Allan say they are determined that the film presents a thoughtful, fair, humane, insightful and balanced one and think this may well be an opportunity for the BBC to show those values in relation to this significant and enduring story.
Simon hopes to start filming the week beginning Monday 10th October.
