Christine Sumner – Justice for Mineworkers

It is with deep sadness that the Justice for Mineworkers have recently announced that Christine Sumner has died. Since its launch in October 1986, following the year long 84/85 miners strike, and until the end of 2015, Rick and Chris Sumner led and worked tirelessly on the Justice for Mineworkers campaign, relentlessly giving support to and raising funds for the men (and their families) who were sacked and victimised in the miners’ strike.

At the end of 2015 Rick and Chris took a well earned rest but were always on hand to give support and advice to those who took over the campaign. Chris was a dedicated socialist, a brilliant women’s and community organiser and a determined anti-racist. She will be very much missed by all who knew her.

Condolences and solidarity to Rick and family.

Rest in Power Christine.
