Lies, scapegoats and ‘hands off’ government

When will this deceit and incompetence stop?

The Windrush scandal is one of the latest damaging revelations to expose this governments attitudes to their view of the deserving and undeserving. Amber Rudd has rightly resigned for misleading parliament about migrants and Windrush but her and Theresa May’s other misdemeanours must not be sidelined.

Kevin Horne, ex Miner arrested at Orgreave said “Theresa May is the former Home Secretary and architect of this repugnant agenda and she must not be let off the hook. The mining communities know only too well that Amber Rudd’s replacement could mean more of the same”

Kate Flannery, Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign Secretary said “We had always suspected and it is now clear that Amber Rudd has failed to engage with contentious and sensitive briefings, preferring to allow officials to decide policy and procedure without her apparent direction”

The Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign submitted a detailed legal document to the Home Office in 2015 at Theresa May’s request. It became clear to us that Amber Rudd had not familiarised herself with it and was not briefed properly on it when she came to her shocking decision that there would be no Inquiry of any kind about Orgreave. We will therefore need to consider making fresh representation to the new Home Secretary, Sajid Javid to review our call for a public inquiry.

It was Theresa May who stated many years ago that the Conservative Party was perceived as the Nasty Party. Now with her as Prime Minister this still remains true.
