Miners' Strike Memories

Mining the Memories

The Northern Film School @ Leeds Beckett University cordially invite Unite members to the premier screening of our Mining the Memories research project films, as part of the 30th Leeds International Film Festival 2016. The screening will take place on Monday, 14th November 2016, at the Albert Room, Leeds Town Hall from 8.15pm. The programme will include film drama, documentary (Orgreave Campaign for Truth & Justice/Goldthopre Community Shop) and animation as well as live music and poetry from Mexboroughs very own Pitman Poets collective!

The short films have been produced by the Northern Film School in collaboration with people from across South Yorkshire who experienced the Miners’ Strike of 1984/5. In workshops  led by Northern Film School staff participants explored what the strike meant to them, then and now, and turned those ideas into scripts resulting in eight unique films. All the films were crewed by NFS students, alumni and staff and shot on location in and around South and West Yorkshire.

We very much hope that you will be able to join us for this exciting event – please RSVP d.p.turner@leedsbeckett.ac.uk for complementary tickets.
